Dear aikidoka, friends and students of Aiki Budo Centre Montreal Yoshinkan Aikido Dojo,

It is with regret, a very heavy heart and great sadness that I must pass on the news to those who may not know it already (Please see Steven Miranda-sensei' e-mail below) that 10th dan, Kiyoyuki Terada Hanshi, the highest ranking and one of the most respected teachers of Yoshinkan Aikido in the world, has passed away on Monday, July 13th, 2009 in his 87th year. He was among the last of Morihei Ueshiba O'Sensei students and a great teacher of aikido and bushido - true Japanese samurai spirit.

Tonight and during all our aikido classes over the next 2 weeks, I would like to ask that all our students please take a moment before and after practice to make a prayer on his behalf and on behalf of his family. Aikido practices will not be cancelled, and in fact, we will keep on training even more intensely in his spirit. For those of you who do not know Terada-sensei, you will often receive instruction from me based on techniques I learned from Terada sensei, so his spirit is very much alive in the dojo and in the techniques you learn from both myself and teachers such as Jaimie Sheppard-sensei, Steve Chau-sensei, etc. I have attached a few photos of Terada Sensei. I have many, many good memories training and spending time with Terada sensei and his family while I lived in Japan. He will be very much missed.
